When something special happend..
In November 2011 over 60 girls aged 8-11 from the Junior department of Nottingham Girls' High School created something very special. Guitarists, Flautists, Saxophonist, Percussionists and a huge army of enthusiastic voices got together to record the song ‘Snowballed’ composed by their music tutor.
The song, into which the girls had a huge creative input, carries a warm message about friendship, being part of the moment and standing as one. Something else very special happened, too. A smaller group of musicians also recorded what in traditional terms would be the ‘B-side’ for our digital release called ‘Christmas Past’ – a tale of family and friendship values and appreciation.
An equally important part of the project was the search for a lesser-known but highly worthy local charity. The reason why we chose ‘Ganbare Japan’ was because of its ethos of longevity. The East Midlands based charity is committed to working with the local community to raise funds and make people aware of the long-term effects caused by the tsunami in Japan earlier this year. With the digital distribution of music so easy these days, we felt that the charity fitted our project perfectly – as something that’s both local and globally aware.
For just £5 you can download, enjoy and keep the efforts of these remarkably talented and committed youngsters. What’s more, you can help support a charity we strongly believe should be remembered as we move into 2012.
